The Jim Clinton Cello, 2024 is a sibling concept alongside the 2023 cello that he built. Knowing that he would keep one cello, he provided that the client could select her favorite upon completion of the two celli. Her dad was given opportunity to participate in the wood selection (and some carving), therefore the 2023 is made from the more traditional maple for its back and ribs, and this one is made of poplar. This is 2024 cello was her final selection.

Jim Clinton Violin, 2025
This violin, completed in the spring of 2025, was made with local tone-wood for carving its maple back, ribs and neck. It was designed to simulate the style and varnish application of a violin made by the French Stradivari, Nicolas Lupot in 1808. The pic below from a STRAD poster shows how the similarly carved scroll bears a golden yellow ground with a red-toned varnish. The sound of this violin is as lovely to hear as it is intriguing to view.
